Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States, with predictions that numbers of Spanish speakers in the country will continue to grow through 2020. It’s a language that will benefit you in a variety of careers, as well as enrich your travel opportunities.

If you choose to minor in Spanish, you’ll benefit from completing an approved study abroad program; all required courses will be taken overseas. In the process, you will select courses from your host institution in addition to taking the required courses for the minor: Conversation, Grammar and Composition, and Literature.

Prerequisites for the minor include successful completion of the fourth semester of college-level Spanish or permission from your Spanish advisor; a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in all Spanish courses; and placement at intermediate level or higher in the placement exams administered by the host institution.
