Observation is a powerful skill that influences and inspires visual artists. When this aptitude is honed in an artistic practice with reflection, introspection, and experience, it can yield the unconventional. In this intimate, eye-catching exhibition, local and national artists share their idiosyncratic perspectives on art and life.

"We'll Get There Eventually: A Print Exchange"

September 15-October 24
William Blizard Gallery, Main Gallery
Second Floor, Herbert P. Blake Hall, Open Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Opening Reception: Tuesday, September 16, 4:00 to 5:30 PM at the William Blizard Gallery

An exchange celebrating the tenacity, resilience, and courage to face the average day. This process can take many forms, whether it be the act of getting out of bed in the morning, asking questions (even though you think they might sound silly), or enduring constant trial and error. These stumbles unite us; we are all trying, and we will all get there…eventually. The prints in this show, from 23 nationwide artists, feature printmaking techniques, including lithography, screenprint, and intaglio.

"Colors of Grief: Shades of Love and Loss"

November 3-21
William Blizard Gallery
Second Floor, Herbert P. Blake Hall, Open Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Opening Reception: Monday, November 3, 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the William Blizard Gallery

Rick’s Place, a beacon of support for children, teens, and families navigating grief, is proud to present this special gallery exhibit and opening reception in commemoration of National Children's Grief Awareness Month. We recognize this each November to normalize the conversation around grief and loss, and its impact on young people. In the United States, it is estimated that one in 12 youth will lose a parent or sibling by the time they reach 18 years of age. In Hampden County, there are more than 5,000 young people living with a death loss.

Rick’s Place artists were encouraged to reflect on their unique grief journeys and how these experiences have left an indelible mark. Each piece presented encapsulates an intimate, heartfelt narrative of personal journeys through grief.

We invite the community to join our Memory Wall Installation by contributing a photograph of a loved one who has died, along with a message or note in their memory.
